2007 W SAE mintage
 

Anyone know the mintage on the 2007W uncirculated SAE, also the 2008/9/10 One ounce silver lunar series, ??

TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE - no one knows - but the conventional wisdom is that it might be less than the 2006-W, the numbers have not be released yet.........but someone else might know more than I.


I have been in touch with my contacts at the Perth Mint - they were suppose to release those numbers but changes at the Mint put it on hold - they hope to have them for us soon and told me they would let us know when they are released.

Again - maybe someone knows something I do not.

I just got a couple 07 W SAE in the mail not too long ago. It was taken off the mint site shortly after I ordered. So I guess they made a few after the new year.

Does anyone know if the dealer cost (directly from the mint)for those GAE and SAE fluctuate with spot prices as well? Or like everyone else, only up but won't adjust if the spot drops? Do we have a dealer type person here?

I am not sure I even understand tha question.......once the year is over, or they run out, I believe (I might be wrong but I don't think so) that the Mint no longer sells older years - only the current year - so you can't get a 2007-W coin now from them.

Those coins go one to become collector or numismatic coins - and there value determined by that secondary market.

Because I thought they might be the second least minted coins of the Silver Eagle Program - I picked up one for my collection in MS70 and a few more in MS69........

PCGS is showing their retail value (which means they are priced higher than most people actually pay for them) at MS 70 at $37 and the MS 69 at $28.

The mint sold about 550,000-560,000 2007-W's, last I saw. I think they only sold about 300 some thousand '06 W's. Have to dig up the source later.

You figures for the 2007-W might be right - but sales of the 2006-W - there were 250,000 sold in the 20th Anniversary set, 209,000 sold individually minted figure and 11,000 sold with the gold Eagle. That would push the total to 480,000 minted, which makes it one of the rarest SAEs.

I placed my order for the 07-w SAE in mid Jan, the status of the order was "backordered", shipping date was 1/31/08. Then got an email saying the order was delayed and the expected shipping date was changed to 2/29. I finally received my coin early march. So from my experience, they must have made a few 07 SAE in 2008.

OR - as has happened many times - they had some for sale that didn't get paid for and they were waiting for credit cards to clear.........if they don't they sell what they are left with.
